Recreation Services is seeking enthusiastic individuals with
experience working with children ages 6 to 12 for the following TERP
Quest Summer Day Camp positions:
CAMP
COUNSELOR
Guide
a group through their daily camp experience. Specific
duties: monitor
the health and safety of campers and supervise campers as they
move through scheduled daily activities; organize and lead
games and activities; promote safe participation and exploration;
enforce camp rules and manage behavior problems; prepare facilities
for daily activities and cleanup facilities at day’s
end; assist with planning of weekly and daily activities and
camp program evaluation; supervise extended care activities
as scheduled.
Qualifications: Candidates must be at least 18 years old and working toward or
have completed a bachelor’s degree (majors in education,
recreation, or early childhood education are preferred); must have work
or volunteer experience working with children ages 6 to 12 (working
with children in a camp or recreational setting is preferred);
demonstrated enthusiasm for helping children explore participation
in varied recreational activities and an ability to relate to
children of diverse backgrounds; demonstrated reliability and
work ethic. Note:
Successful candidates must submit to fingerprinting and a state/federal
criminal background check.
Wages & Hours: $10.00/hour; 35-40 hours/week, hours will vary between 7:00am
and 6pm, Monday-Friday, June 30 - August 8, 2008. One evening:

ASSISTANT
DIRECTOR
Manages the day-to-day operation of the TERP Quest Summer
Day Camp program and assists the Camp Director with administration
of all aspects of the program.
Specific
duties: monitor the health and safety of campers,
supervise the daily schedule of camp activities and camp staff,
act as the initial point of contact for parents, coordinate
special events and field trips, insure proper record-keeping,
handle cases of child illness or discipline, update daily section
of the website, and assist the camp director with other duties
as assigned.
Qualifications: Candidates
must be at least 21 years old; have a bachelor’s
degree in education, recreation, early childhood, or related
field; experience teaching children between the ages of 6 and
12; and experience working in a camp setting. Experience
as a camp counselor is preferred. Additional qualifications include:
demonstrated enthusiasm for helping children explore new things,
supervisory experience with children in an activity or educational
program, ability to work with Microsoft Office and web-based
applications, strong communication and interpersonal skills,
demonstrated reliability and work ethic. Note:
The successful candidate must submit to fingerprinting and a
state/federal criminal background check.
Wages & Hours: $15/hour;
40 hours/week during the day Monday-Friday, July 7 - August 8,
2008. One evening: TBA.

ARTS AND CRAFTS
SPECIALIST: Overall responsibility for
the operation of the Arts and Crafts Program within the TERP Quest Day Camp in
cooperation with the Assistant Camp Director and Camp Director. Responsible for
the planning, organizing, and implementation of daily craft activities for all
ages as well as projects of higher organization.
This position requires
compliance with department regulations and state certifications. Position must
maintain communication with staff, participants and the Camp Director. Position
requires assistance in general maintenance of assigned area, safety and security
of participants. Other duties as required.
Qualifications :
Preferred candidates will be working in an Elementary School setting as an art
instructor and are working towards or have completed a bachelor’s degree in Art
or Art Education; must have work or volunteer experience working with children
ages 6 to 12 (working with children in an art education setting is preferred);
demonstrated enthusiasm for helping children explore participation utilizing a
variety of artistic mediums and forms. Must possess the ability to relate to
children of diverse backgrounds; demonstrated reliability and work ethic.
Note: Successful candidates must submit to fingerprinting and a
state/federal criminal background check.
Wages & Hours:
$10.00 - $15.00 hour depending on experience;
20-30 hours/week, hours will vary between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday,
July 7 - August 8, 2008. One evening: July 5, 6-9pm.
