Terp Quest Summer Day Camp is a recreational day camp managed by University Recreation & Wellness. It is based in the Eppley Recreation Center on the north end of the University of Maryland campus and is open to all rising 1st through rising 7th graders.

Six themed camp weeks are offered - each include a wide variety of activities in top notch facilities with the highest quality staff. No two days at Terp Quest are ever alike, and our campers return year after year to try new games and activities, to participate in entertaining and educational encounters, and to see the University of Maryland campus in a whole new light.

We strive to create balance in your child's day by creating a varied schedule of active play, quiet games, special activities and special events to engage their bodies and minds. Terp Quest is focused on FUN!

Age Groups Toggle Accordion

Children are placed in groups which allow them to interact on a daily basis with their academic and developmental peers.  Counselors plan games and activities appropriate to the age group.

Rising 1st and 2nd graders (Snapping Turtles) : For those children entering 1st or 2nd grade in the coming academic year. Our youngest campers must have completed a minimum of one full year of full-day kindergarten. These campers are typically either 6 and 7 years of age. These campers are broken into two sub-groups: A1 and A2

Rising 3rd and 4th graders (Tortoises)These campers will be entering 3rd or 4th grade in the fall after camp, and are typically 8 or 9 years old. These campers are subdivided into smaller groups: B1 and B2.

Rising 5th - 6th graders (Diamondbacks): These campers are 10 - 12 years of age. Terp Quest accepts campers up to the age of 12 years old and this may include some campers who have just completed 6th grade and will be entering 7th grade. These campers are assigned to the C1 or C2 group.

Important note: Age restrictions are set as part of the registration process to ensure appropriate group placement. Please contact terpquest@umd.edu if you experience difficulty in registering your child for the correct age group. Terp Quest will not allow campers to register out of age group unless such a placement is appropriate for that child. For example, a camper entering the 2nd grade cannot be placed with a sibling or friend entering the 4th grade.
